Post-Scaling & Polishing Care: Tips for Healthy Gums & Bright Smile

✅ Introduction:

Dental scaling and polishing is a routine procedure to remove plaque, tartar, and surface stains from your teeth, helping prevent gum disease and cavities.

At Shree Jayam Oral & Dental Clinic, Ambattur, we recommend regular scaling for a healthier smile. Here's how you can take care of your teeth after the procedure for optimal results.

✅ Post-Scaling Care Tips:

1. Mild Sensitivity is Normal:

You may feel slight tooth sensitivity or gum tenderness for 1–2 days after the procedure.

Avoid extremely hot or cold foods for a few days.

Use desensitizing toothpaste if needed (consult your dentist before use).

2. Maintain Good Oral Hygiene:

Brush twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush.

Floss gently to remove any leftover plaque between teeth.

You may rinse with warm salt water (½ tsp salt in a glass of warm water) to soothe the gums.

3. Diet Recommendations:

Avoid spicy, acidic, or very crunchy foods for 24–48 hours.

Stick to soft foods like curd, soups, smoothies, and boiled veggies.

Limit sugary foods and drinks to maintain clean teeth.

4. Avoid Smoking & Alcohol:

Avoid smoking or consuming alcohol for at least 48 hours, as it can slow down gum healing.

✅ When to Contact Us:

Bleeding that persists beyond 48 hours

Severe pain or swelling

Gum infections or pus formation

✅ How Often Should You Get Scaling?

It is generally recommended every 6 months, but your dentist may suggest it more frequently if needed.

After the implant heals, a beautiful tooth (called a crown) is placed on top. The result? A tooth that feels, looks, and works like your own! ✅ Why Do People Choose Dental Implants? Here’s why millions of people love implants: Natural Look: They blend perfectly with your other teeth. Strong & Long-Lasting: Can last 15 years or more with proper care. Eat Comfortably: You can chew all your favorite foods again. Protects Your Jawbone: Prevents bone shrinkage that happens after losing teeth. No Impact on Other Teeth: Doesn’t harm nearby teeth (unlike dental bridges). ✅ Who Can Get Dental Implants? You...
